1. Overview
[COMPANY_NAME_PLACEHOLDER] ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Rawdog iOS application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your information.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information. By using Rawdog, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Short version: We collect only what we need (your email for the waitlist, nothing else for the app experience). Your camera is never recorded. Your screen time data never leaves your device. We don't sell your data. Period.
2. Data We Collect
Waitlist & Account Data
When you join our waitlist or create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used to notify you when Rawdog launches and send occasional product updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
App Usage Data
When you use the Rawdog app, we may collect minimal analytics such as:
- Session completion events (whether a session was completed — not any video or image data)
- Streak counts and aggregate usage statistics
- Subscription status (managed by Apple)
We do not collect:
- Any video, images, or recordings from your camera
- Screen time data, app usage data, or Family Controls data
- Location data
- Contacts or any other personal data from your device
3. Camera Usage
Your camera is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. Full stop.
Rawdog uses your device's front-facing camera during focus sessions solely for local, on-device presence verification. This means:
- The camera feed is processed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device Vision framework
- No video or images are ever recorded, stored locally beyond the session, or transmitted to our servers or any third party
- Presence detection (confirming a face is visible) is computed in real-time and immediately discarded
- We never access or store biometric data of any kind
Camera access requires your explicit permission via iOS. You can revoke camera access at any time in your device's Settings app. If camera access is revoked, Rawdog will offer an alternative session mode.
4. Screen Time & Family Controls
All Screen Time and app usage data stays on your device. It is processed exclusively by Apple's operating system and APIs. We never see it.
Rawdog uses Apple's Screen Time API and Family Controls framework to enable app blocking. Here is exactly how this works:
- You select which apps to lock using Apple's native FamilyActivityPicker — a system-provided interface that does not expose individual app identities to us
- App restriction and blocking is enforced by Apple's operating system at the system level, not by Rawdog directly
- Your app selection, screen time statistics, and usage data are stored exclusively on your device by Apple
- We do not transmit, store, or have access to which specific apps you choose to lock or any of your screen time data
This approach is required by Apple for Family Controls entitlement holders and represents the highest standard of privacy for sensitive usage data.
5. How We Use Your Data
We use the limited data we collect for the following purposes:
- Email (waitlist/account): To communicate launch updates, product news, and information relevant to your Rawdog experience. We do not send spam. You can unsubscribe any time.
- Aggregate analytics: To understand how the app is being used at a population level, improve features, and fix bugs. This data is anonymized and never tied to individual users.
- Subscription management: To validate your subscription status. All payment processing is handled by Apple — we never see your payment details.
We will not use your data for any purpose not listed here without obtaining your explicit consent first.
6. Data Sharing & Sale
We do not sell your personal data. We never have, and we never will.
We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We may use third-party services (such as email delivery platforms for waitlist communications) that process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements. These providers are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our assets, user data may be transferred. We will provide notice before your personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing purposes.
7. Data Retention
We retain your email address and associated account data for as long as you have an active account or subscription, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations.
You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at [EMAIL_PLACEHOLDER]. We will fulfill deletion requests within 30 days.
Session data (completion events, streak counts) stored on your device can be deleted by deleting the app. Any aggregate, anonymized analytics we hold cannot be tied back to you and are not subject to deletion requests.
8. Children's Privacy
Rawdog is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at [EMAIL_PLACEHOLDER] and we will delete that information.
Users between the ages of 13 and 18 should review this policy with a parent or guardian before using the app.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: The right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: The right to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion: The right to request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Portability: The right to receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Objection: The right to object to certain processing of your data
- Opt-out: The right to unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [EMAIL_PLACEHOLDER].
10. Security
We take the security of your data seriously. We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the effective date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, sending you an email notification.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of Rawdog after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
